Description: Hike description: This is an extremely strenuous hike. Please join me in challenging one of the top three most strenuous trails in North Carolina. This dauntingly technical hike will have us ascending the steeply strenuous Woody Ridge, where I have on good authority, that we will witness the gorgeousness of the painted trilliums in full bloom. We will then hike along the Black Mountain Crest trail, the highest ridgeline east of the Mississippi, where we will enjoy what I can only describe as the rawness of nature with resplendent views of the Linville Gorge and the surrounding lands. We will then descend Colbert Ridge and make our way back to our cars via several old logging roadbeds that connect between the two trails. This is a strenuous outing. Participants should be prepared for a very long day, steep vertical climbs, rapidly changing weather patterns, and a challenging, technical hike. Unfamiliar registrants will be screened. I do not recommend bringing pets as there are a few unique scrambles, however, I will leave the decision to bring their pet to the pet-owner's discretion; regardless: all pets must remain leashed. Please come prepared for a long day and bring a positive, mental attitude. After the hike, Please join me for a trail-cap at the Lost Province in Boone for good food and drink.. 11 miles, 4000 ft elev. [R-55]
